Singer-guitarist Robb Flynn and Machine Head’s newly re-formed Burn My Eyes–era lineup — featuring guitarist Logan Mader and drummer Chris Kontos — have been tearing it up in the studio in preparation for their upcoming tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the iconic 1994 release. Today, May 29th, the band has unleashed a new re-recorded classic from the album, “None But My Own,” which proves the years they spent apart did nothing to quell the fiery chemistry among the musicians.

Gorgeous professional footage shows the group shredding through the slow-burning, gruff track with the same vigor they possessed as much younger men, this time with the practiced skill acquired over two-and-a-half decades of experience. Flynn spews out impeccably controlled growls between his stunning guitar licks, while Kontos wails on the kit without missing even a fraction of a beat.

A mid-song downtempo section serves as a timely reminder of the track’s vintage quality, giving off those very mid-Nineties groove-metal vibes that both evoke nostalgia and sound fresh again in the context of today’s more polished rock bands. The climax comes when Flynn pulls his axe up vertically to tease out a passionate solo before the bottom drops out and heavy, tribal drums build the song back up into an explosive, fiery conclusion.

Watch the intense performance below, and catch Machine Head when they hit the road for the Burn My Eyes 25th anniversary tour this fall.
